About the Family
A warm, internationally minded family of four in Prenzlauer Berg is looking for a reliable, engaging nanny to become a consistent part of their weekly routine.
Their 5-year-old daughter is open-minded and curious, although she can initially be a little shy. She loves dolls, crafting and music and is particularly interested in learning English. Their almost 2-year-old son is active and energetic and loves sports, balls and books.
The Role
The nanny will provide afternoon care four days per week, Monday through Thursday.
The typical day will begin with kita pick-up between 15:30 and 16:00. Afternoons can then include playground trips, reading, crafts, playtime or other age-appropriate activities.
The older child also attends an extracurricular activity once or twice per week. The nanny may accompany her there and spend some one-on-one time with the younger child before pick-up.
Towards the end of the afternoon, the nanny will prepare a simple, healthy dinner. Depending on the parents’ schedules, the nanny may initially eat with the children alone, with the parents gradually joining dinner as part of a relaxed handover. The parents will generally take over between 18:30 and 19:00.
The family would ideally also like to establish one fixed longer day per week, when the nanny could stay later if needed, potentially until 22:00. This would give the parents additional coverage around occasional business travel, work commitments or private events. This is nice to have, not necessarily required.
The family keeps a tidy home and would appreciate someone who encourages the children to put away their toys and tidy their room as part of the afternoon routine.
Who They’re Looking For
The family is particularly looking for someone who is:
- Trustworthy, responsible and warm
- Exceptionally reliable and punctual
- Organised, consistent and professional
- Highly engaged with the children, and able to find creative ways to keep kids engaged
- Capable of coordinating activities and spending time outdoors
- Comfortable preparing simple, healthy meals
- Able to bring a sense of calm and routine to balance the family’s schedule
- Fluent or highly proficient in English and comfortable using English naturally with the children
- Bilingual (Native/near-native English with some German knowledge)
- Comfortable introducing English to primarily German-speaking children
Contract
The family would initially like to offer a 6-month contract. Their older child will begin school next summer, at which point the family’s childcare needs and working hours will need to be reassessed.
They are nevertheless looking for a genuinely long-term relationship and would be happy to explore continuing with the right nanny under an adjusted schedule.
This is an excellent opportunity for a nanny looking for a consistent afternoon position with two engaging young children and a professional, welcoming family who values reliability, mutual respect and a warm relationship with their caregiver.
