About the Family

A warm, creative and lively international family in Berlin-Neukölln is looking for a kind, fun and reliable nanny to support them as they welcome their second child in early November.

The family is made up of two mothers, an active and curious young daughter, a baby on the way in November, and a sweet but occasionally mischievous deaf cat! One parent works in music, while the other is a journalist. They speak English and Hebrew at home.

Their daughter is a cheerful, energetic little girl who loves books, exploring and spending time outdoors. She has recently started Kita, and the family is looking for someone who can become a familiar, trusted presence as their routines evolve.

About the Role

Initially, the nanny’s main responsibility will be caring for the family’s older daughter, with the possibility of gradually taking on care of both children as the baby grows.

A typical afternoon will involve picking her up from Kita at approximately 15:30, visiting a playground or heading home for playtime, reading books, preparing simple meals and helping with dinner. Light child-related household tasks, such as tidying toys, meal preparation and cleaning up after meals, will also be part of the role.

The family anticipates needing approximately 12–20 hours of support per week, with a preference for regular weekday afternoons and occasional weekend hours. They are flexible about the specific days and would like to develop a consistent routine together with their nanny.

Although the initial contract will be for six months, the family hopes to find someone interested in a longer-term relationship. Their childcare needs will evolve as their second child grows, and they would love to find a nanny who can grow with the family, if possible.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal nanny is warm, playful, patient and adaptable, with previous experience caring for babies, toddlers and multiple young children.

They should be comfortable in a lively household, enjoy reading lots of books, spending time outdoors and encouraging curiosity through play. Reliability, clear communication and a collaborative attitude are particularly important.

Must-haves:

  • Experience caring for infants, toddlers and multiple young children
  • Kind, playful and nurturing approach, without being excessively strict
  • Reliable, communicative and comfortable with changing family routines
  • Comfortable with Kita pickups, outdoor activities and light child-related household tasks
  • Sufficient German for handling emergencies

Nice-to-haves:

  • Native or fluent English, German or Hebrew (other languages welcome)
  • Cooking skills
  • Confidence riding a cargo bike
  • Willingness to provide occasional overnight care in the future

Why This Is a Great Opportunity

This is a lovely opportunity for a nanny who enjoys working with young children and values a relaxed, open-minded family environment. The parents have experience working with babysitters, communicate openly and appreciate a collaborative approach.

They are looking for more than occasional childcare support: they hope to build a lasting relationship with someone who can become a trusted part of their children’s lives.
