What does a part-time nanny cost?
The deposit is €150 (incl. VAT), credited toward your placement fee. The placement fee is 12% of your nanny’s total earnings during the contract, plus VAT, payable when the contract is signed.
Employed nanny rates start at €20 gross per hour, with employer costs on top. Freelance nanny rates start at €25 per hour. Your nanny sets their rate based on experience and the role.

How long does the search process take?
Every search is different. We ask for a lead time of up to 3 months. Some searches are resolved more quickly.
How long does a part time nanny contract last?
We set up contracts for either 6 or 12 months. In special cases, we can adjust the length of the contract to fit the needs of the family or nanny, such as if there is an extended holiday planned in 8 months.
Is there a minimum number of hours I need to set up a contract?
Yes. Our minimum contracts are for 3 hours per week. Each shift must be a minimum of 3 hours.
Can I hire a nanny on a minijob?
Yes, you can. In 2026, a minijob is an employment arrangement with regular average earnings of up to €603 per month. At Lighthouse, this means a nanny working on a minijob basis usually works one 3-4 hour shift per week.
Can I hire a nanny on a midijob?
Yes, it is possible to hire a nanny on a midijob contract. In 2026, a midijob is an employment arrangement with regular monthly earnings from €603.01 to €2,000.
Can I work with a part-time nanny on a freelance contract?
Yes, it is possible to work with a freelance nanny. However, this will depend on what kind of job assignment you are offering, the number of hours involved, and whether or not the candidate your family chooses is a registered freelancer.
